Dreams Dissolve by Catherine MacLellan

We originally wanted this song to cover Alli's parents reading her file.  It was literally about Alli's dreams dissolving - everything she hid over the years just blew up in her face.  The song ended up where it is - over the next scene - as Jenna reads comments posted about her on the Next Teen Star website.  All of a sudden it wasn't a sad song anymore, it's uplifting now, Dreams Dissolve is now about a new life, a new hope, a bright future for Jenna.

Stay by Jesse Thomas

Carrying this scene, Stay creates a powerful, stirring moment in Alli's mind.  It's a very introspective moment - we are in Alli's mind - we can feel her disappointment and the weight on her shoulders - and this song keeps that feeling alive - forcing Alli to think; "should I stay?"

Happiness by Jaylene Johnson

It's a terribly sad moment - watching Alli leave Degrassi.  It would have been really easy to find a sad song for this scene, but having Happiness in here shows that it really isn't the end for Alli at all - it's a new beginning.  "I will always come back to happiness", the last words heard in the episode, could mean Alli is leaving to find happiness - or - maybe she will realize it was at Degrassi all along.
